Employees begging for salary hike from the manager

I am working in a private firm for the past 5 years.In our firm I have noticed that at the year end some emplyees who are very bad at their work are found to be roaming around the manager’s office and literally begging for salary hike. I don’t think it will do them any good. How to explain this to them?

I can understand your point.But this incident is very common.There are people who are worried about salary hike,but they are not bothered about their performance level.My suggestion to you will be,dont make unnecessary enemies.If you try to give them any advice they will not take it in a positive way.Rather they will disapprove your advice,and think you as their enemy.So,let them do what ever they want.You concentrate on your performance,and keep doing hard work.If you work hard and give your best,then you effort will surely be praised.

It is not a good thing of roaming around the manager for salary hike.

It means you are accepting yourself that your performance is not good.

Rather than begging, try to discuss the things in the appraisal.

If you perform really well, then you will get good rating and good salary hike.

Failing which, the boss will not give you the good rating.

If you feel that the rating that you got is not good as per your performance, then go to him directly and discuss with the manager by showing some proofs like productivity.

1. Do not poke your nose in the matter due to the following reasons.
2. Though you have realized that there cannot be any result out of these roaming, you should not say much about this to the employees as they will simply ignore your words and keep trying.
3. One important factor is anything can happen for anybody.
4. If anybody has stopped roaming following your words and another succeeded by not listening your words then the first one will misunderstand you.
5. So it is better to do your own work and not to take extra unnecessary pressure in indulging yourself into others matter.

As you are a employee and they are also employees , let them do anything they want.
do not indulge yourself in those employees tensions.

As they are not good at work, they will not get salary hike.

Hi, Normally in all the organisations, there is a fixed time for appraisal of employees. The manager or the HR needs to communicate this to all the employees. However, if the manager is not getting bothered by these employees bugging him for salary, then you should also not worry too much. You must tell them that it useless to ask for salary hike.

Tell them that they should work hard and improve their work to get salary hike.

They will not get salary hike if they roam around the office.

It will decrease their calories if they roam outside the managers office.

They decrease calories by working hard also.

so why not take the better option.

They should spend energy in improving their skills and work.
