An employee deliberately works till late hours in the evening and is now demanding an extra salary

One of the employees in my private organization is acting very intelligent. He deliberately finishes his work late in the evening after the normal office hours. He whiles away his time during the day. He is now asking me to pay him extra for the extra hours that he has put in. His team leader is also supporting him. How do I deal with such a situation?

Hi, Please explain all your employees that they are supposed to complete their work within the office hours. In case you ask them to wait after office hours, then you are liable and you should pay them extra but if they have not been asked by you the it's none of your responsibility to pay them extra. Please be very strict about these rules and do not support even a single employee of yours when asked for such favours. Please explain this very clearly to the team leaders as well. You need to be firm with your employees at times.
