    Employee asking for extra leaves

    I am a manager of a software company. One of our employees has already completed the quota of his casual leaves provided to each employee every month by the company. He has always given genuine reasons for taking the leaves and is a good employee of the company. Now he has some family function coming up, so he is asking for extra leaves. Should I give him extra leaves? Won’t it spoil him?

    Ya you are right that employees should not be spoiled by giving them extra leaves or doing any unnecessary favours for them. You you should always show them their right position and not allow them to unnecessary have inflated egos. But as you also said that he is a good employee and has always given genuine reason for his leaves, then you may give a little consideration and allow him some extra leaves. As he has a very reason this time too, you should think about this a little and then only take your decision.

    Call that employee to your office and tell him that this time you will give him the extra leaves which he requires for attending his family function. You would never have done such a thing but are doing it for him because he has always performed well and has been very truthful about all his earlier leaves. But he should always remember that this is the first and the last time that you are doing such a favour to him. The next time he will not get such extra leaves. You hope that he understands your position and thus would be glad if he doesn't communicate this to any other employee. You hope he enjoys his function.

    I am sure this will be the best way to deal with such a situation. Your employee will get what he wants and also this will not make him high headed as he knows that he can't take such a favour again.     well yes it would spoil him, but a family function is a genuine reason too. so you can give him leave of the next upcoming month, that is cut the leaves of the next upcoming month and give him the leave. it will be professional too and would not the break the rules too. this way he would not take fyrther leaves for the next month too.
