Drunken assistants in office create safety issues during night shift

The printing division in our newspaper office is the basement. During the late night edition, I have found the assistants in a drunken state. On complaining to the news editor, things have gone awry for me as the assistants put my work on hold and refuse to cooperate. This is very scary as being a female, I cannot work like this. Please suggest a way to keep this problem at bay.

    Hello,

Keeping in mind about the present scenario it is very essential for you to secure your own safety.Dont talk to them who creates such nuisance.Convey all your problems to your senior editor -in-chief,and see what solutions he provides to you.Dont forget to mention the uncooperation that you have been facing on their part. And wait what measures are taken against them.

    Hey!
I can understand your problem being a female myself and feel that security for any girl is of utmost important. If at all a woman doesn't feel secure at her work place then it is very difficult for her to work. You should complain to the editor and tell him that how after complaining against the assistants they have refused to cooperate with you. You should explain your situation to the editor and tell how being a female it is impossible to work in surroundings where people are drunk. You should also ask the editor to strictly tell the assistants that drinking alcohol is prohibited in the office premises and how they should not indulge in such activities.

If the problem still persists then you should ask your editor to depute another male employee, who is reliable and responsible enough to not drink at the office premises, to be present for the late night shift. In this case you would feel more secure. I am not sure how far this would work for you but if your editor is a sensitive human being who understands the problem of his employees then he would respect your security and help you.

Incase you are not comfortable even after all these methods are taken then you should refuse to go for a late night shift and cite security reasons as the reason. I strongly recommend that you should not work in an environment where you are not comfortable because as a female that is more important than anything else. You should stick to your point that you will not work in the late night shift unless you drinking is made a offence for the assistant staff. I hope your problem will be dealt with fairly and everything will work in your favour. All the best!

    hi dere,
i can understand your problem very well.
this type of problem is not only in your organization but happens in most of the organizations and yeah it thus becomes very unsafe for a female to work woth colleagues who are drunk. As after drinking a person goes to subconscious mind and does not know what he is doing.
So in my opinion you must go and talk ASAP to your higher authorities before anything goes wrong.
If they not listens to you then in case of EMERGENCY you can dial WOMEN HELP COMMISSION ay 1098 or 100 for instant action...

Really it is a scary situation from your point.

Not only for you, it is for all the ladies.

when the people are druken, their mind will not be in their control.

They might do anything for you.

Just draft a mail to the Manager or Branch Head

Not only by you, send it by all the females staff.

If possible, have face to face discussion with him,

Work environment should not be scary for any employee.
