Do sales tax officers save themselves from paying taxes?

My uncle is working as sales tax officer in a metro city where he earns a good amount of money. What are the criteria for taxation for such government employee? Can these employees exempt themselves from paying the annual taxes?

    Hello Aspirant,

The govt.of India has a department called Income Tax Department which has to look after the tax collection from both the employees of central & state govt. working in any department & any where in the country. The return of Income is guided by the Income Tax Act 1961.Thew return is filed on the basis of white money income which includes the salary amount with all its components such as dearness allowances, medical allowances,House rent allowances etc.

There may be any extra income which is not accounted in the returns of the Income Tax.The employees generally hide such amount of income.

Depending upon the amount of salary along with the income from other sources such as agriculture & interest from the bank deposit etc,tax as per rules of Income tax in force, the taxes are paid by all employees annually in the month of march. The employees are free to pay the taxes in advance from the salary of any month which is adjusted in the month of March of the ending financial year.If the advance taxes paid is excess, the amount is refunded by the IT Deptt. & if it is less, the rest amount is paid through the salary of the month of February of the ending financial year.

    Good luck.

Dear aspirant your uncle is a Govt.employee his designation is sale tax officer he is liable to pay Income Tax to the
tax department as per annual salary is credited to his a/c.He has no power to save tax because his salary is transparent what he earn's is depictable eg everybody of the department knows. So here your idea is wrong.Such employee they can not exempt themselves from paying the annual tax. There is Tax slab/limit if you earn beyond the limit then you are to pay tax. This the employer's duty to cut appropriate tax from his/her employees. So there is no chance of exemption of Tax.

    Thank You,
