Difference between termination and suspension? Does it have same impact on the career of the employees?

I am working as an HR in one of the MNC Company. One of our employees found to be guilty of doing something against the company. Should I terminate him or suspend him? Is it one and same or different from each other? Does it have same impact on the career of the employees? What should I do? Please advice.

Dear, asker termination and suspension are very much different from each other so we should not confuse when we face such things some of these difference are given below:1. Termination means an employee has been totally out of the job whereas suspension means if someone had done something wrong i,e the employer has suspense on the employee 2. A prior notice should be given to the employee before termination. In suspension only the inquiry is with the person. It does not have the same impact on the employees career. My opinion is you should warn him that this wrong thing should not be continue with the next time.

It is sad that an employee of yours is found to be guilty of doing something against the company. No,both termination and suspension are not the same, both have different meanings as well as impact.
Termination means ceasing or stopping permanently. In working sector,it means one's job is ceased,i.e,he/she is chucked out of his job and will not be allowed to work any more in the concerned organization from that particular time.It is manly taken in severe cases of breach by employees towards the company. It can ruin one's career as after it is formulated,on will be jobless. Not only this, one's reputation will go down,as a result other organizations will also hesitate in recruiting that person.
Suspension means ceasing or stopping for a stipulated period of time.In working sector,it means one's job is ceased for a particular period of time,i.e,he/she is asked to not return back to his/her job for a certain time.As a result, either the salary for that stipulated time will be deducted or the leave concession will be deducted. It is taken mainly in minority cases of breach to the company. It has less adverse effects as compared to termination. It doesn't completely ruin one's career, but gives one self realization to work efficiently and honestly from that time and not repeat any such mistake. It act as a warning.
Hence, you should suspend the employee rather than terminating his job.

    Hello

Well both are similar words but having different meaning. Termination means he will be thrown out of your company and would never get anther chance to join in your company and may even never find another job as it will be a negative point on his behavior . And no company will accept a terminated person as they know he might do something to harm the reputation of their company

On the other hand suspension means to dismiss him from work for some days as a punishment for minor mistakes he has done but it is harming your company.

After some time he can resume his job with a warning that if anything of that sort happens again he will be thrown out of the company.

I would suggest your to look into this matter if its serious enough terminate him as an example for other employees else just suspend him for few days if its a minor issue

    Thank you

    • There is very much difference between the termination and suspension.
    • Termination is completely making the employee to leave the company whereas in suspension the employees are made out of the company for some amount of time.
    • It is necessary to inform to the employee about the termination.
    • suspension is an immediate decision taken by the company.
    • IN Termination employee is not provided any kind of chances to prove him right.
    • In suspension, he has been provided a chance for the enquiry.
    • Both the termination and suspension are not good for any employee. It ruins the job profile.
