I think the only difference is duration.

If you take leave for 1 or 2 days, it is just called sick leave.

Instead, if you take it for a longer time, then we can call it as Medical leave.

The meaning resembles the same for these terms.

These words are most often used in organizations by employees.

    Hello Sir..

There is a far difference between the Sick leave and Medical leave taken from the company..
Sick leave can be 7 nos in a year, hardly, you don't have to show MC for this...
But some serious case(like accident), you may get more than 20 days and it will be medical leave.. You
must have to show MC for this...

    Thanking You...!!!!

    Dear Aspirant,

sick leave is for a short perid say for 1 to 3 days & the medical leave is for the longer period. It is required a medical certificate to take medical leave. The doctor advises the period required to take leave.

On the completion of the leave,a fitness certificate from the same doctor is required to join the duty.

Sick leave does not require the above documents to utilise it.

    Thanks & good luck.

The major difference between a Sick Leave and the Medical leave is that a Sick Leave may be taken by an employee as and when required and could be for any illness. The Medical leave on the other hand would only apply in case of a serious illness like cancer, etc. It would not be applicable if a day off is required to recover from a cold or flu.

sick leave means the number of days off the employee is entitled to with full pay and benefits.

    Hello Friend,

sick leave and medical leaves are more or less.
in every company they give some 5-6 days of sick /medical leave to every employee and you can avail that any time but the restriction is that you will be able to avail these medical leaves only when you have used all your earned leaves at the time of taking sick leaves.
these medical leaves are also earned leaves but you can avail them once in a year if you run out of your earned leaves.
This policy varies from company to company so better consult with the HR before you take those.
else if you have earned leaves and you claim sick leaves for 2 days then those will be deducted from your normal leaves.
for normal leaves you dont need to show any medical certificate but for medical leaves you need to produce medical certificates once you join the company back.
    Thank you.
