    hi friend,
service tax means that the tax which is pad on your income for example if your income is 1000 Rs. and the rate of tax is 12% then you will pay 1120 Rs.
you will deposit 120/-as tax to using services of SP regd. with ST deptt. of GOI/SG.
GOI ( Government Of India), SG (State Government).

The following kinds of service tax often received by the student are generally taxable:
1.If any students got any scholarship then he or she pad the tax on that.
2.when any student has doing self employment on this he pad the tax.

For more detail seen the link given below :-

we all are should pay the service tax because on that amount the deployment of our Nation taken place. so we should have pay the all taxes to GOI.

    Hi aspirant
    You are abslutly right
There no any govt.or private college that take a service tax on paid fees.
Students are waived by this tax.
You must be contact the college athourity for left this from the student.
If management do not take any action then you can complaine at consumer office.
The service tax take on generaly these goods or services:-
**Consignor or Consignee is liable to pay service tax in relation to taxable service provided by a goods transport agency, where the consignor or consignee of goods is,°™
    >> any factory registered under or governed by the Factories Act, 1948 (63 of 1948);
    >>any company 11 [formed or registered under]the Company act 1956.
So you can take action against the college.
    Thanks.
