Conducting interviews for the first time

I am an HR manager in a private firm. I have just joined the company. Recently I have been appointed by my management to conduct interview for a certain post. This is my first time and I am really very nervous. Can you provide me some tips for proceeding smoothly in this task?

Re: Conducting interviews for the first time

    Hi aspirant

You should not worry much as the task of conducting interviews is much more easier and simpler than the task of appearing for an interview. Once it is done, you will certainly realiise that you easy it is. But ofcoursr as it is your first time for conducting an interview, so I can undersatand your nervousness. This nervousness is your biggest enemy and you should know that. Firstly be cool and confident. THe people who are appearing before you should be nervous and not you. For conducting the interview, the foremost requirement is that you should prepare some questions which you are going to ask the candidates appearing for the interview. These should be prepared depending upon the post you are conducting it for.

Now you should convey these questions properly and clearly in front of the candidates. JUst speak properly and you will certainly have no problem throughout the procedure. The questions which you prepare should be good and then you will see that everything is going smoothly.

Good luck friend. Keep up your spirits. Thanks

    Hey!
First of all congratulations for joining as the HR Manager. I am sure that you have wonderful interpersonal skills and that is the reason for your appointment as the HR Manager. Since it is your first time you are bound to be nervous. But you should keep in mind that in life there is always a first time. You have to trust yourself and feel confident because that is an essential quality required for the HR Manager.

Taking an interview will not be an uphill task for you owing to the education that you must have recieved during your MBA degree. Its time to just put this education into practice. You should do a little bit of homework before taking the interview. Keep the following points in mind:
    1. Analyze the requirement of the job profile.
    2. Carefully observe the body language of the candidate.
    3. Read between the lines of the resume of the candidate.
    4. Get the candidate talking to you because this will help you get to know about the candidate and whether he is a potential candidate.
    5. Make the candidate comfortable in your presence. Otherwise the candidate will be hesistant throughout and this will prevent him from opening up in front of you. You might lose a potential employee if this is the case.
    6. Make sure that your questions are such that you are able to find out through the candidate's answers whether he has the required qualities or not.

I am sure that you will do a very good job. It is just a matter of self confidence and getting hold of the situation. All the very best to you!

    what is there about worring?

You have to select good staff for your firm.

    You need not to worry.

You need to examine all the candidates on some special fields like:

    1. Their behaviour.

    2. Their atitude.

    3. There intellituct.

    4. There knowledge about work.

    5. Ability to do work etc.

You need to give marks according to their performance.

The selection will be automatically done on the basis of marks they will score.
