    Companyís sudden change of policy for annual appraisal report with no prior information

    Every year, for our annual appraisal, critical incident method of performance appraisal system is followed by management. Appraisal team used to identify and describe the events where an employee performed well or need improvement. With the change of guards this year, annual appraisal will be based on ranking and rating. We were not informed about the change of policy. I am confused about the sudden change. Please suggest what needs to be done.

    Hi buddy

    You should not worry much about these things. Ya surely it was wrong on your company's part to change the company's appraisal policy suddenly without giving any prior information to its employees. But i think as an employees you cant do anything about it because it is solely on your company's discretion to bring about a change in the policies. Employees have no say in this. I know it will be very difficult for you to suddenly adapt to this new system and you may be worried that it may affect your job. But be calm and do the best you can to adapt to the new method.

    You can contact your HR and get more details on how this new system works and all the details regarding its implementation. He will surely help you out. Then you try your best to do your work accordingly so that you excel during the appraisals . Give your best efforts to your work and show full dedication. Try to change your methods according to the new method . Have patience and i am sure you will be rewarded. These things take time but in the end you will certainly get what you deserve.

    Worrying is not going to take you anywhere. Be cool and give your best shot. Good luck and God Bless

    Dear Aspirant,

    You must prepare yourself to face any changes being made in company . It is the administrative point that the company has right to change its policy for which it is not required to inform their employees because the changes apply to all the employees and it is not affecting you only. Just discuss the matter with your colleagues and other related employees and see the movement. If majority of the employees are against the changes made,you can give a joint representation to the company management for required modification. If other employees are not worried for changes made,you must prepare yourself to face the consequences.

    Hi friend,
    Whatever the HR policies mentioned in the appointment letter, those will be followed until you leave organization. If the situation demand to change the terms and conditions they have to inform you ahead and have a discusion of terms.
    Otherwise you can complain to your higher authorities. They will solve it.
