Colleagues refuse to accept young boss

I have recently taken over a newspaper office as a resident editor. I am one of the youngest people around. Majority of the team members are male and they have disciplined issues like extra long breaks et al. On confronting the issue, I came to know that I am trying to misuse my position and dominate the team. It is unacceptable. Should I talk to the owners?

    Hi friend

I think you should definitely talk to the owners regarding this matter. You have the authority to confront this issue of not letting the others break the rules. It does not matter whwther you are younger than the others. They should definitely listen to you and not try to suppress you in this matter. You are certainly not try to misuse your position and thus should not let other employees talk to you in this matter.

Go to your owners and tell them that you have recently joined as the resident editor of this office. You have noticed that majority of your team members are males and that they have disciplinary issues like taking extra long breaks. When you tried to confront this issue they told you that you are trying to misuse your position and thus dominate the team. You don't think this is fair as you have the right to carry out your duties and do whatever is good for the company. They have no right to suppress you in this matter. You hope that they will look into this matter.

I am sure your owners will definitely help you in this matter and thus your problem will be solved. Good luck

    Dear,
One things comes to my mind after thinking about your problem.
that, respect is a give and take business.
When you give respect you will get it in return.
Respect must come to the position, seniority, work efficiency and above all personality.
Be rich in your attitude and personality so that everybody has something to learn from you.
Do not dominate them, respect their work, suggestions and politeness, efficiency and experience.
You can change yourself to change your colleague thou change your atmosphere.
Coolly think of it, your problem will be solved. Do not quit from the position.
    Bye take care

Dear Friend, am not getting one point in your question. are you the team leader or are you just a member? well if you are the leader then you have full right to confront the issue and if they don't listen to you then you can complain to the higher authority and also to your HR and you don't need to worry. but if you are not the team leader and just a member then I don't think you have the right to confront the issue. though you can talk to them about it, tell them that whatever they are doing is not right and it is affecting the team. but you cannot be aggressive wih your team about it. try to talk to them in a friendly manner. if nothing happens and you still feel that you have to something about it then I definitely thing that you need to talk to the owner through your HR....good luck

    Dear Aspirant,

Of course It is true that people having more age don't want to accept their boss with lesser age,but they can't do anything except to whisper among themselves.See most of the administrative service officers are found in young stage than their under employees, but they obey their order happily or unhappily.Of course it is difficult to obey the order happpily ecept personal favourable order.

Like that your under employees whisper & trying to blame you for over acting. You need not worry for this thing & go ahead with your interest in work & justice with your co-employees & under employees. If you see that the situation is worsening, you must discuss it with the owner of the press. The problems will be solved either by sacking any of employees or by convincing them.

    Thanks & good luck.

    Hello,

As an editor you have the right to question them. Now if they think that you are interupting too much, then it is not only unfortunate but also unacceptable. If you feel that they are disrupting in your work in any way, then you should inform it to your higher authorities. If you inform to the higher authority then they will take up the issue, and will settle it by giving some warning to those staffs. However,if you inform to the higher authorities regarding this, then the inter personal relationship between you and them may hamper, and they will start considering you as their enemy.

You should definetly talk to the owners or the persons to whom you report to in that office
Company has appointed you to that position
You have been assigned a role and you are just doing that
You juniors or the persons who are reporting to you has to listen to you as you are the boss

After discussing the issue with your boss, you can take action, so that all employees do their work properly and also follow the rules of the company.

Dear if your colleagues are trying to avoid you and wants you out of the team then before that you need to be sure about this and if they are thinking that you are trying to dominate on the entire team members and using your position, power and rights against the profit of the company and the employees then let them think about it because every single team member think about his/her team leader and this is the real time for you to prove yourself among all of them that you are not misusing your powers and positions in the company and you are not trying to take over anyone in the office premises and for that you need to give more and more time to your team members and ask them about their problems related to company and work and also about yourself and if they complain against you then you should ask for the proof and be cool in that situation and try to handle everything easily and try to make a good and friendly but official environment in the company and motivate your all employees just like a team member not as a leader

    All the best

Move to your house owners and tell them that you simply have recently joined because the resident editor of this workplace. you've got detected that majority of your team members ar males which they need disciplinary problems like taking additional long breaks. after you tried to confront this issue they told you that you simply try to misuse your position and therefore dominate the team. you do not assume this is often truthful as you've got the correct to hold out your duties and do no matter is sweet for the corporate. they need no right to suppress you during this matter. You hope that they're going to cross-check this matter.

One things involves my mind when puzzling over your drawback.
that, respect may be a offer and take business.
after you offer respect you may comprehend reciprocally.
Respect should come back to the position, seniority, work potency and specifically temperament.
Be wealthy in your angle and temperament so everyone has one thing to find out from you.
Don't dominate them, respect their work, suggestions and politeness, potency and skill. You'll modification yourself your colleague large integer change your atmosphere.

nervelessly think about it, your drawback are going to be solved . don't quit from the position.
Of course it's true that folks having a lot of age don't desire to simply accept their boss with lesser age,but they cannot do something except to whisper among themselves.See most of the executive service officers ar found in young stage than their underneath workers, but they adjust their order blithely or sadly.Of course it's tough to adjust the order happily except personal favorable order.

Like that your underneath workers whisper & attempting responsible you for over acting. You need not worry for this issue & plow ahead interest in work & justice with your co-employees & underneath workers. If you see that the case is worsening, you must discuss it with the owner of the press. The problems are going to be solved either by sacking any of workers or by convincing them.
