Careless attitude of the nurse in my hospital has led to serious medical complications for a patient

One of the nurses working with my hospital showed careless attitude in treating a patient who was in a serious condition which has led to medical complications. She was going through a rough personal phase and hence the carelessness. Otherwise she has a good track with the hospital. Now the kin of the patient want to file against her. I want to support the nurse because it was a human error but if I do support her then the reputation of the hospital is at stake. Please suggest what best can be done by me in this case.

    Hello sir
I think for being a careless attitude towards the patient is not a sign of simplicity and you said that you are wants to support her. So far as my point of view you have to also take an action on that because after all you cant cheat and the careless attitude towards the patient is ridiculous not what have to do is that write a complaint against her and the send it to your senior authority may then can tackle this case in right way.
    Thanking you

You have to handle the situation very tactfully. You cannot afford to disrespect or ignore the words of the patient party. At the same time, you have to give some protection to this lady so that she gets a last chance to save herself from legal proceedings. You have to pay due respect to the complain of the patients family. You have to assure them that you will take immediate action against this lady so that she does not repeat such mistake in future. Accordingly, you suspend her for a month or so. You if suspend her she will stay back from her work, but at least her job will be there! Warn her so that she does not dare to be such careless in her duty. Ask her to stay back at home and not to show her face in the hospital at least for a month. This will also work as a threat to the other staffs, so that they can be more careful regarding their duty.

    Dear friend,

If the mistake is not intentional then the punishment will be less.

It will be considered as a human mistake.

But compensation should be given in terms of money.

You may help the nurse in that matter not in the legal procedure, because it is not good for the hospitals reputation.

Also you should make clear the facts to the nurse about her negligence without loosing your temper.

    Wish you all the best.

Fire these kind of persons as these are the cause of death of the person who are very poor, they not care for them and finally other suffers for the same, she is a bad employee it will be better to fire her if you keep her then there is no guarantee that she will not repeat such thing because. After all it is the matter of life and death so take care for this and remove that emplooyee as soon as possible.

in profession dont neglect the fact which affect the reputation so first think about reputation and one more thing nurse is also human being and her duty is only to serve the patient and if she is not performing her duty well then there is no use of supporting her dear. she may repeat it again so better take action against her.

    hi friend,
Its all about human nature you know .whenever a person is having a rough phase of his/her life ,
he/she gets mentally disturbed and it hampers his or her focus in work and for me this was the main cause behind her mistake which proved to be problamatic for the patient. And from the kins point of view it is quite humanly nature of the kin to file against the nurse as it is quite difficult for him to give a deep thought on nurses problem.
So in my opinion you should talk to the patients kin and portrait or submit before him the nurses problems and then ask him to take a correct and biasfree decision about filing against the nurse .This would be the most fruitful path for you as it would prevent you from thougts that you havent done anything for the nurse and also if the kin takes a broad view on the problem then any action against her can be prevented.

    Dear

Though she has a good track in the hospital, carelessness in the medical field is not at all excusable.Acting with insufficient attention is not considerable. Its very sad to see this type of behavior in the hospitals. In emergencies they are too lazy and wanted someone else to do her job.If she has a good track and this case might have done unintentionally, you may serve her warning letter and ask her explanation otherwise this type of activity may be repeated due to which the entire reputation of the hospital gone for one small reason.
Further please call the concerned relatives of the patient and have a meeting and convince them to get the situation in the peaceful way. All the best
