    Can we increase the salary of employee in the middle of the year because of his good performance?

    I am working in senior executive manager in IBM Company. There are 5 people working under me in this company. One of my team members is doing very well. And now I feel the salary provided to him is less than his capability. Can we increase his salary in the middle of the year? If yes, what is the procedure?

    Hi Friend,
    As a manager you have to follow the appraisal process.
    If in your company there is a provision of mid year appraisal, then complete his appraisal and provide him the ratings and advice HR for salary revision.
    If there is no mid year appraisal then wait till year end appraisal and complete his performance appraisal that time advising promotion and salary revision.

    Hi Aspirant,
    yes, you can do it. If you done these thing then candidates will encourage to work. So you can increase the salary of Employee
    in the middle of the year. it's totatlly depend on company to company. in govt. sector, there are some problem,
    but in Private organization you have not any problem about increasing the salary.

    Yes, you have the full right to discuss it with the management in your company and pay him according to his capability. In many companies they increase salary at after proper time period, But if the employee performs extremely well, it is possible to increase the salary in the middle on the year based on his/her performance. The decision can only be taken after proper discussion with management and I am sure, it will be in your favor. If not, then provide him with more salary and bonus at the time of the appraisal period.

    YES Salary can be increased in the Middle of the year for any employee.

    But for this you need to check with the HR of the company.
    Also your Immediate Boss should be aware about this thing.

    I would suggest that you should first discuss his case with your immediate Boss and if he agrees to such a move than Talk to the HR manager and ask for the increment
    If it is in the rules of IBM, than obviously hike can be done.

    If Not than you have to wait for the annual appraisal which is anyhow due in next 4 months time, you can give him a hike at that time.

    Dear Aspirant,

    Yes, You can surely can do it.You should get the approval by the board or the commitee or the head of company or the authority who has power of decision making with regard to the company.If you don't have power to sanction the enhancement of salary to the employee,recommend it to the higher authority on the ground of his good performance,his salary to the limit of so & so may be increased.After its approval,the order can be served to the concerned employee.It will be better to take a request to increase the salary by the concerned individual.

    Salary Hike is granted to the employee once a year as per company decision

    Whereas designation can be given to the employee based on the performance and capability

    If you feel that the employee is capable for promotion that can be done immediately

    Salary hike is given once its enabled at the end of the year

    You can provide your rating to the employee based on the performance to entitle him for high salary hike

    You can also recommend him for best performer awards in the project or Business unit

    All this will encourage him and let him to providee more better inputs for the growth of the company

    Yes, you can increase in middle of the year! There is a boundation for yearly increment for average employee but no boundation for outstanding employees! If you satisfied with his performance and wanted your employee to feel boosted and respected then please give the maximum increment you can. But, always monitor the performance of that employee after increment and try not to disclose this to other employee! In my office an agreement has been signed that no one will disclose his salary to other co-workers!
