In our company every employees is given one day casual leave and 1 and half day paid leave. Most of the employees follow this leave rule. Recently one of the employees exceeded this casual leave for more than 2 days. Can we consider casual leave as paid leave of an employee if he has exceeded it in a month?

    Dear Aspirant,

It depends upon the leave policy of your company.I don't know how manys days of casual leave in a year is given to the employees. In practice, the casual leave is given maximum to the limit of 10 days at a single time to the permanent employees in a particular year.In your case,if the concerned employee is having casual leave,he may be sanctioned the casual leave.Bring it to the notice of the manager personnel & get it cleared.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Yes casual leave can be considered as paid leave ... If the company rule is to take only one casual leave in a month then its absolutely ok to consider the days as loss of pay for the employee . If there is no such system followed , then there is no need for any deduction and the employee has to be paid for the day even if taken more than a leave in a month . Intimate all the employees about the leave policies of the company to make them aware of the leave norms .

    Thanks @@@

    Hi,

Yup in certain circumstances it may be considered as you said,,

The Employee is permitted to Avail the Casual leave in addition to Paid Leave,,

If he/she Exceeds the leave then the leaven taken in addition is included in the remaining paid leave,,

    Thanks

Sir as per norms you are allowing 1 and a half paid days as cl.that means clearly an employee is eligible to enjoy casual leave with pay 18 days' a year.now you are asking if he exceeds it in a month.then what to do?

Sir as the employee is eligible to enjoy 18 days' a year and he has no balance to enjoy any kind of leave.all leave have exhausted .then for additional leave, which he has exceeded he has to be paid less and the amount to be deducted from his/her salary.

    Thank you,

    Hi

Yes the casual leave can be considered as the paid leave if the employee has extended the maximum amount of leaves allowed in a period of time..

This is justified that if the employee is allowed only 1 leave per month by the company then he should take only one leave and some how in any

circumstances he extends his leave then the leave must be considered as paid leave and deduction should be made in his salary..

From the next time he remember this..

If you do not do this then other employees will also try it and it will not be good for the company progress

    Thank you..

Since in your company only one day casual leave is allowed, if the employee has taken more than one day leave, then the execessive leave taken can be adjusted with the paid leaves. But make sure that this is according to your's companies policy. If that employee is intimated you before taking the leave, then you can adjust it with paid leave, in case if he haven't done that then you must deduct the salary for that day. You must also warn your employee, not to repeat the same mistake again of not initimating before taking leave.

Dear sir/madam, When an employe exhausts his casual leave and he/she exceeded it then company can treat the exceeded leave as paid casual leave to save him/her from deduction of his/her monthly salary.Salary deduction is taken as a last resort when the employee has no source of his/her leaves in credit.

    Thank you,

    Hi,

Yes, in case employee doesnt have balance for casual leaves in his account, then you can ask him to apply the same as paid leave on the portal. Anybody can take leaves in emergency.
In some companies there is a concept of advanced leave also. If in your company there is any policy like this, then you can ask him to get the advance leave if in case he does not have any leave balance in his account just to avoid the deduction of salary.

    Dear friend,

Allocation and consideration of leaves are entirely depend on the company's HR policies.

In your case, I would suggest you to go through your company's HR policies for leave and then decide accordingly.

In most of the company's, if casual leave is exhausted it can be considered into paid leaves, so yes you can allot paid leave for this particular employee.

    All the best.
