Can a telephonic interview judge candidates correctly?

Many MNCíS conduct telephonic interviews for non-processes too. But are these telephonic interviews with without the physical presence of the candidate? How can be theses interviews bring results? Please brief the process.

    Hi aspirant

Telephonic interviews are suddenly gaining a lot of popularity and acceptance by many company to recruit the new employees. Earlier they were not that common but now-days they have gained wide recognition and acceptance. In telephonic interviews the physical presence of the candidate is not required but the interviewer and the candidate communicate through phone. In this the interviewer asks many questions from the candidate and the candidate is required to answer them.

Of course here the interviewer cannot judge the candidate's confidence from his facial expressions but only from his voice and his way of answering the questions. But of course here also the confidence levels of the candidate can be judged . Also here the candidate does not have to carry out the formalities of dressing properly and keeping him neat and tidy and that is certainly quite a comfort for him as he can concentrate more on the other aspects of the interview. So basically here the candidate who answers most questions correctly, spontaneously and with confidence will come out as a winnner.

So these interviews certainly can bring results and are surely going to be taken up by more and more companies in the future. Good luck and Thanks

    Hi friend,
Telephonic interviews are gaining much importance these days . Many companies prefer to conduct telephonic interviews not only for posts that are higher in hierarchy but for all posts as it saves lot of time and costs involved in holding a personal interview.

Usually candidates are shorlisted from applications received for the vacancies. The HR department or some concerned employee informs the selected candidates about their selection for the interview and they are required to fix a day and time for the interview to be held over the phone .
The interviewer, usually the employer then takes the candidate's interview on the phone and if satistied, offers him a job. Hence, it is an interview without face to face interaction of the employer and employee.
These interviews can definitely bring results as the employer can jugde many things with the way you speak, your quqlity of answers, communication skills, whether you would be able to handle clients, etc. Employers basically know what they are looking for in a candidate and thus, whether telephonic or personal interview, they can definitely select the right candidate.
    Thanks...

    Hello ,
Telephonic interviews cannot as effective as the regular interviews as ::
Firstly , you can never be certain whom your are talking to or there may be some
external (sitting beside him )help giving the person some assistment with the questions .

Not everything can be discussed on the telephone so there interviewer has to be very discreet of whatever he is asking .
Then the person taking the interview cannot be comforated as easily in a face-face interview .

Body language , posture etc cannot be judged in a telephonic interview .
You can only use his confidence in speech to judge the candidate . Technical strength of the candigate can be fully judged through
a telephone but whether is he fit for the work-environment will still be a doubt .
I guess it requires some special skills which the interviewer developes over a period of time (experience )to hire the candidates .

    Thank you !

    Dear Aspirant,

Nowadays many MNC conducts online test for the recruitment. It is very easy & very less expensive. In order to appear for online test, one has to apply online as per the information available on the website of the concerned MNC & accordingly one has to appear for online test.Depending upon the result, one has to appear with all testimonials in orginal for verification & further process for getting the appointment letter.

To my mind, telephonic process is not in practice, because it is very difficult to be genuine case. There is a maximum possibility of cheating case.

So be sure of the company/organisation in fact.

    Thanks & good luck.

    Hello,

Telephonic interviews or Skype interviews have become very popular now-a-days.While telephonic interview involves telephonic conversation between the employer and the candidates short listed for interview, skype interview is video conferencing interview using internet. In telephonic interview, both the persons involved cannot see each other,in skype conversation both can talk as well as see each other.

It is debatable about the effectiveness of these telephonic interviews. But it has become quite popular and many companies are adopting these measures.
