Can I take up Medical science after doing my degree in Pharmacy?

I have completed my degree in Pharmacy and have one year practice in the same. I am also very much interested in Medical science. Is there any scope of doing my post-graduation in Medical science? Or do I have to take up degree in Medical science again and then go for post-graduation? Please suggest.

For pursuing PG you have to do a bachelors degree i.e M.B.B.S,

Without that you won't be able to do PG in medical science.

Moreover if you have to do PG than you have to clear exams for it which is very tough as there are very less seats available for it in Govt. Medical college.

Instead if you have interest in science than you can make your career in research field in areas like development of new drugs etc.

Please note that MBBS course is of 5 and half years duration including internship.

Now you have already completed your Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy and have one year work experience.

At this stage it would be a bad decision to study in the Medical field.

Also to do Post Graduation in Medical field you need to have done your MBBS first.

I would suggest that you should continue in your field of pharmacy.

If you want to do Post Graduation, than do in your field of Pharmacy.

You need to apply for the GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) if you want to do Post Graduation in Pharmacy.
Min eligibilty to appear for this test is-4 years Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy.

Next Exam notification will come out in Jan 2013 and Exams will be held in May 2013

    Hi friend

I dont think you can take up medical sciences now after completing your graduation in Pharmacy. It will be better if you continue with the same line and pursue your PG in M.Pharmacy. That will be certainly better for you as you already have experience in this field and also i am sure you have developed interest in it as well after so many years. So your future will be certainly be bright if you continue in this field and dont jump to other fields now.

Now if you want to do medical sciences firstly you will have to do your graduation again which will be a long and tedious procedure for you and you may or not develop interset in it. So i would advice you to do your PG in M.Pharm as it has a good scope and surly your future will be bright. Good luck friend

    Hi friend,
It is better to pursue PG in your own stream. Go for GPAT there will be great future in that field. PG for sure adds value to you.
There is no chance to you to do pG in medical field. Don't loose heart R and D in pharmacy has better oppurtunities than this medical field.

    Regards,
    BSR.

    Dear Aspirant,

It is your very late decision to do post graduation in medical science. In order to get this degree, you must have MBBS degree & must qualify the qualifying examination to get admission in M.D or M.S course.

On the basis of degree in pharmacy, you can not do PG or M.D/M.S.

Now it will be very much time taking to do MBBS & to do PG in medical science.

So better go for higher study in the same line i.e M.Pharmacy in order to have better carrier.

    Thanks Good luck.

    Ashok
