Can I quit the job if I am in bench or I can wait some more time to get the project?

I am really depressed now because I have been in bench for the past 6 months and I don't know what exactly I should do, Can I quit the job and look for better opportunities? Or I can wait some more time to get the project? I want to do something instead wasting time sitting idle while in bench so can you tell me what all things I can cultivate as a professional while being idle in this period of time?

    Hi,

Bench Period has its advantages and disadvantages :

    * You may feel bored , wasting time by sitting in the cafe , arena , hanging out

    * Instead you can do following things :

    • Contact your supervisor for Project

    • Ask for Some Training arrangements like Oracle Certification , IBM Tools Training etc

    • Write certifications and get recognised

    • Do Proof of Concepts (POC) and submit for getting project

    • Ask some seniors for project vacancy and try to get into that

    * Don't quit the job . You will not get any experience certificate

    * Even if you go to some other company , you will be considered as a fresher only

    @@@Thanks

    Hi friend,

    1. As you are saying that you have been on bench for the past 6 months, instead of staying in the company better get some certification courses.

    2. Ask your manager that i has been a long time that i have been working, will the projects come or else are you going to sit on bench till some time.

    3. As the interest of yours depicts that you want to achieve some thing you want to work, which is a good sign.

    4. Instead of being in that company try for some other companies with your experience, which may earn you some good job with good working environment.

    5. While on bench you can get some add-on experience.

    6. If you are a java professional then you can write the sun networks exam, which has got a good value now-a-days.

    7. If you are a network administrator then you can do the CCNA,CCNP certification courses.

    All the best.

    thanking you.

    %% HI %%

%_% It is very critical situation in IT sector when waiting in bench %_%

%_% Inform your manager and request them to put you any project even it is small or big %_%

%_% Because it is not safe for you to be in bench %_%

%_% The company will send off the candidates who are in bench at the time they meet recession %_%

%_% So force them to get a project soon at least get into support team as possible %_%

%_% But don't quit your job which won't bring you experience at all %_%

    Dear Friend

It will be not good for you to leave the job as it is difficult in the IT sector to get a good job..

You should not waste your time while on the bench,

You should make some advantage from it like you can do any certification training like of IBM,Oracle ,etc..

You can try other things like completing your personal matters..

Ask the HR when you will get the chance to work on a project and if not then provide something else which will be worthful for the employee and the company..

    Dera sir

Were you told at the outset where you would be working? Have you given
notice already? How much notice is required of you? Are you looking for a job
working for your present employer’s competitor such as might unfairly
    disadvantage the present employer?
    i was released
from my last project at onsite and sent to offshore due to project rampdown. I
haven't resigned yet as i have no other offer in hand. Thing is now i am
internally getting evaluated for other projects and was really frustrated to be
on bench and less package here, so started looking for other option. Now if i
get into new project and i just resign, will it be ethical? i mean i will be
newcomer in that project and they will start knowledge transfer and all. i am
really confused and nervous about it. Hope you guys are getting what i mean.

Hi friend,It is not good to quit job only for this reason. Before you decide to quit job you have to have job in your hand . Then only it is wise decision.Yes you are right it will be boring to be in bench for long period. Also there will be no job security if you are in bench. But my suggestion is don't waste your time be smart and quick learner. Be friendly and try to mingle with people. Main thing here is you have to improve your technical expertise. All is well. Good luck.Regards,BSR.
