Can I awail OBC NCL reservation for Gate exam?

My parents are govt teachers and having their annual income greater than 4.5lak, but not coming under any class I or class II. As per the creamy layer criteria Can I get OBC reservation for M Tech admissions in IIT or NIT? since these institutions are coming under central educational institutions under Govt of India.

As per the current Rule of the Central government with regards to OBC-creamy Layer---
Families earning upto Rs 4.5 Lakhs Per annum will be considered for OBC-CL
If total income exceeds Rs 4.5 Lakhs than you cannot avail this benefit

So, if your parents total income is Rs 4.5 lakhs or less per annum, than YES you can apply under OBC otherwise you have to apply under General Category.
Class 1 and Class 2 does not matter while calculating the income

    Dear Aspirant,

Definately you can get the OBC non creamy layer certificate with more than 4.5 lac income from salary as per the direction of the central govt. & of supreame court. The income from salary & agriculture is not to be counted for issuing the OBC certificate if either of your parents is not direct class 2 & class 1 officer. The limit of income upto Rs4.5 lac is not for salaried employeed other than the above said category. It is meant for the income from business & for direct class 1 & class 2 govt. officers. It is as per the O.M.NO.36012/22/93-estdated8.9.1993 & also adopted in recent judgment by the supreame court in the writ petition no.265/2006.

So get the required certificate & use it for your purpose.

    Thanks & good luck.

    Dear Friend

SOrry but as per the rule on Indian Government you can not get the Reservation in the admission as U come in the OBC creamy layer.

AS per the rule OBC certificate can only be given to a OBC candidate if his parents income is Less than 4.5 lakhs annually..

SO you will get any kind of reservation you will be considered a UN-RESERVED CANDIDATE..

Now you have to do more study in the GATE exam as you have a more competition now..

ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE..

Dear aspirant. . .so sorry you can not avail the benefit since your parents are govt teachers and having their annual income greater than 4.5lak. . . .in case of admission at IITS and NITS you will be asked to submit all your certificates. . .if you un truthfully get non creamy layer certifications you will be put into trouble. . .so pl do not think of getting that benefit as you are not eligible for it. . . .you will come under general category. . .

    Hi,

Yes, if income is within defined limit i.e.4.5 lac, you may apply under OBC-NC category while applying Online/Offline, even though if you have declared your birth category as GN (General) while applying for GATE. However you have to produce the OBC-NC certificate at the time of Written Test/Interview.
