    Boss taking advantage of juniors for phone bills

    For a new project we keep working at late hours from our respective places and it involves a lot of conference calls too. The company does not pay for our phone bills but we have put in a request for that. Our boss has been taking advantage of us juniors and he always makes one of us initiate the call. We cannot refuse when he asks us to call but it is getting too expensive as the project is a3 months long one. What should we do?

    Hi, I know it's very difficult to speak against your boss. But dear, when you collectively put some point in front of him, he would be forced to take a decision. Do not react to this clever attitude of your boss, but collectively try giving him an alternate suggestion with great humility and politeness. All you junior guys first stand united and then request your boss to put this concern in front of the management so that conferences could be arranged by the management and the phone bills could also be paid by the company. Tell your boss that this would not only save your boss's and your money but also help you guys to keep a record of the calls taken by you and the team and in future if required, you can always take references from those recorded calls.     Well, it is mandatory for the company to pay the phone bills. If your boss is making you the scapegoat then it is time you should inform it to the higer authorities. Your boss has right to ask his employees to use their phone for office work. Every company has some rules and regulation if your boss is not abide by the rules then you have to talk to him and request him to initiate conference facility at office phone lines. As a senior person has has certain duties to perform at office for the skale of his employees.

    Dear if your manager is taking advantage of all the juniors then you should not worry because he is the manager and you should raise your voice against this otherwise you will get nothing and loose a huge amount in paying the bill of phone calls which are made for office and professional work and advantage will go to the boss that is not very good for the employees working in the company

    All you juniors should get together and talk to your boss about this issue and make it clear that you and all other juniors will not pay any bill of any phone call because it is being too expensive for all of you and if this will be continue then we all will be unable to continue in this company that is why stop doing this with us

    You may make a argument that sir you should increase our salary for the project because we are working till late hours in the company and for you and bills of phone are also being paid by the juniors which is not going good so please sir understand the situation and increase the salary otherwise we would have to find out another job where we will be paid less but no need to pay the bill and work overtime so your boss will understand and stop doing this with you all

    If the phone bill comes to you then you should refuse taking it and directly say that I did not get the connection here and all the phones are here for office use and I have never made any personal call by using this phone so why will I pay the bill and this aggressiveness will make the atmosphere shocking and you will get the support of your colleagues and when unity works then your boss will stop asking you to pay the bill

    Dear Aspirant,

    It is true that some one is boss & some one in working under the boss,but each & every individual/employee has some responsibilities to discharge,for which they get salary & perks.Seniors get more salary & perks than juniors.The boss has the power to get the work done with the juniors,he has the power to sanction/recommend for any promotion,has the power to write confidential report,but it does not mean,you should go on incurring the loss by your boss.You should ask your boss to use his own mobile for making calls,because it is a continuous process.

    If you can get it compensated by other means,you can allow him to use your mobile otherwise it is nothing wrong to request him to use his own mobile.

    Dear friend

    In most of the organizations reimbursement for phone calls will be given to only certain executive level people up to some specified amount as per the decision taken by the company.No other employees are eligible for reimbursement of phone calls they made even for official use.In this regard you need to submit a request through the Concerned in charge to the HR manager for consideration.Basing on recommendations of your project in charge, they may consider as a special case as you are working for project during late hours too. Otherwise company may arrange a outgoing call facility from your local internal phone at your place and they can review the detailed break up as and when the phone bill generated every month.If they found any personal calls, they may be billed and debited to your salary account.But official calls are not.So you may not demand for reimbursement but request can be made to the senior officials through proper channel for necessary action and for consideration.
