    The best possible way to make the team members follow their deadlines without the team leader constantly reminding them

    I am working as a team leader in a consultancy and I face a lot of problem because my team members do not stick to the deadlines. I do not want to constantly remind them regarding the same. I want to give them their freedom and just want that on the fixed deadline they report to me with their completed work. How do I ensure that this process carries on smoothly?

    Well, there is no hard and fast rule of completing work within the deadline. All Project Managemt companies find it hard to complete the task within the stipulated time. This is a very serious issue and till now no solution is on he horizon. You have to talk to your team leader and ask them to finish their work within the deadline. You can personally inspect each individual to see their level of progress during the project. This way will be able to get a clear picture of the completed level of work and the work you need to complete. Inspection, execution and professionalism are the key to complete any work within time frame.

    Be polite but strict in your words that you will need the work to be done before deadlines.
    Give them a sooner deadline than required.

    If still they continue to be lazy and do not complete work on time.
    Then give them last and strict warning that you complain and report about such lazy work to your boss.
    Tell them that their promotions and appraisals are based on your views given to boss.
    So your orders are very important to make a career.

    As members of the team they should cooperate with the team leader and work.
    The team members should obey the team leader's orders and then only the task can be accomplished.
    Tell them that it does not suit their personality to work lazily and remind them to do their work.
    They should be clever enough to complete the task before deadline.

    As a team leader you have to faces these types of problem. now in my suggestion what you have to do is that gathered all the team members at one place and just frequently told to all of them that if we are submit over project on right time then we should any type of problem regarding to our project but if we miss the deadline then I think the company would be take a step on this problem and may they we fired us so itís my request to you the please work properly with concentration.

    Healthy competition is the best way to take out the best from anyone.

    In order to make your team mates more conscious about the deadlines, all you need to do is introduce some awards and recognition for employees who are consistent in work and complete their task in before the deadline given to them.

    Include the HR team and the senior management in this plan and start some quarterly award ceremony to recognize these good and consistent performers.

    Also, Include the point of consistency and completing task on time in the appraisal form so that the employees could take it more seriously and develop the habit of being regular at work.

    In addition, be a bit firm with the employees who do not follow deadlines to complete their task and ask the HR to talk to them once in 3 months regarding their seriousness towards work.

    hi,
    you can tell them 5 to 6 days before the deadline.I mean if your deadline is 20th tell them that deadline is 15th,depending on your projects complexity.other way is to ask one of the team member to keep a check on everything from time to time and you will ask for review from him.

    Dear sir this is the the situation when team leader is more responsible for such type of duties because members of the team thinks about the completion of the work according to the instructions of leader and follow him everywhere so you know that you have the right to be strict or normal to the employees or your team members so you can implement any personal rule in your team that everyone should follow while working over any project or task because if you will make any specific rule then your team members will remember that all the time and may understand the value of time because project should be completed before the deadline

    You can call them all and discuss about the project and its importance then mention all the rules and regulations that has to be followed by all members. Distribute the work to each member in parts so everyone will get own duty/responsibility to complete their task and while discussing you should make it clear that everyone is ready to start the project otherwise you will not listen anything and no excuses will be accepted by you while the middle of the project and also say to them that you are independent to use your own tricks to complete your work and you are here to help everyone about the project and any other professional matter but using own strategies will make themselves responsible for any mistake in the project and they will be charged to pay the fine from their side that is why everything should be done according to instructions of team leader

    If anyone does not submit the work on time and makes it late then management will feel compulsion to deduct a part of your salary so everyone should remember about the time given by the management to complete this project and if anyone submit the work before the deadline then he/she will be given preference in incentives after completion of this project so this type of instructions will help them to remember the deadline of the project and you will have no tension to make them memorize them again and again for the same
