    Hi,

Its great that you are thinking to become an IAS officer, but yes without completing the graduation, there is no scope to give an exam of IAS officer. Only once you done your graduation you will be eligible to get into it. If right now you are in 12th then you can imagine that if you are fully dedicated towards your goal then you have enough time till your graduation will get completed to do the preparation for IAS exam.

As you want to become an IAS, so I think you have already gone through the syllabus of the same as well as the process of taking the students. You have to choose two subjects as Main subjects and also to qualify the pre exam you have to do work hard and prepare all the subjects which comes in pre exam.

If you get some time after your college then you can join coaching classes to get the right path and also to get motivated. Once you will join the coaching center, you can see that there are so many students which are doing the preparation of IAS seriously. You can talk to them to get their views. It will help you a lot.

Boss you will have to wait till your graduation is completed. If you are really serious start preparing for it from now.For beginning, you can start with newspaper preferably 'The Hindu' and some other competitive magazines like Pratiyogita Darpan,Frontline or Competition success wizard. All of these are easily available in the market. It will be much easy for you to prepare from this early stage because you must be able to save enough time from your own subjects.Having arts as your major subject is an added advantage because maximum papers of UPSC are based on it.If you work hard and sincerely it will not be very hard for you to kick through the exams. All the best.

After completing your 12th you can not apply for the IAS exam conducted by the UPSC every year...

Following are the minimum eligibility criteria that you need to satisfy to apply for this exam...

    - Candidate should have completed graduation or engineering from a college under a recognized university.

    - Candidate appearing in final year can also apply for the upsc exam.

    - Nationality : Indian

    - And most important thing is that you will have to satisfy the age criteria i,e.

    21-30 for general category

    21-33 for OBC category

    21-35 for SC/ST category

    21-40 for physically handicapped.

After satisfying the above condition only a candidate can apply for this exam...
