Answer in interview when they ask questions “what will you do if you get opportunity from our competitor and they are paying better than us”?

I have 3 years’ experience as mediator between the client and company. I recently attended one interview where they asked me this question, what I will do if I get opportunity from one of their competitor and they are paying better than this company. What should I answer for this question? Can anybody tell me the answer which can save my nose and retain their interest in me?

Well thats a tricky question, better pay means better company. So when your are asked such a question the interviewer is trying to find out your satisfaction with the company as well as your commitment and trust in the company. They can detain you if your response is not effective, so you should contain your answer with some kind of feedback to the company, let it be positive but don't over do it don't praise the company too much because it will sound so artificial. You can answer it in this way "in a career pay is not the only priority, working environment is also equally important. If the employer harasses the workers, even when the employer pays a handsome salary it is not worth working for that employer. And in my case I have found my right place here with this company and I believe i'll achieve higher heights with this stand. So if i'am given the opportunity in a different company which pays better i would rather stay here and concentrate more on my job so that our company could put up a competition on them to attract more talented workers and for the future of our company"

    Hi aspirant

Now this is definitely a googly on the part of their interviewer and anyone can get nervous on being asked such a question. But you should not get afraid when you are asked such a question and thus try to retain your calm and composure. If you get nervous then that will be the end of you and you defintitely will get confused answering such a tricky question. So its better that you prepare this question beforehand only so that you can answer it with more confidence during the interview.

When asked such a question, you should tell the interviewer that if you het an opportunity from one of their competitors who are wiling to pay you more, then you will definitely reject their offer as your loyalty would be definitely towards their company and you would not cheat them whatever maybe the case, You will straightawy tel them that you are very happy with your job and with the work atmosphere here and you definitely won't leave it for anything. Also as you have gained so much from your present company over the years, you are not willing to leave your job just in lieu of getting a higher salary. You are sure thAT if you request your present company, they too will increase your salary without any hesitation. Thus you will remain faithful to them.

I am sure your interviewer will definitely be impressed with this gesture of yours and will definitely hand over the job to you. Good luck
