Action against doctors going out for personal cause during office hours

I am the supervising administrative officer of a government hospital. It has come to my notice that certain doctors are not doing their duty. They are going out during the office hours for personal cause. I also have information that they are sitting in private clinics that time. What type of actions can be taken against them to control the situation?

Re: Action against doctors going out for personal cause during office hours

    Hi aspirant

Such type of situations should be dealt with severely and those doctors who indulge in such irresponsible and selfish behaviour certainly deserve a severe punishment so that they never repeat such a mistake in their future. As Doctors , the treatment of their patients, and not making money, should be their first priorty. So if they are working as employees in your hospital they should make it sure that first they do their duties properly there and when they have finished with it, then only they should go to some other place if they warn to earn extra. By not abiding by the rules and regulations , they are certainly doing the wrong thing. And anyways as they are working in a government hospital it is illegal for them to do private practice along with it. So they can even be punished by the law for the same.

You should definitely do something to control this situation.Gather all the doctors at a single place and then make an announcement stating that you have found that many of them are not doing their duties properly and are going out during the office hours for their personal cause. They have found to be sitting in private clinics at that time. You have enough evidence with you and thus are going to give a last warning to all such doctors who are indulging in such illegal practices. If anyone of you is caught again indulging in such practices they will be immediately terminated from their jobs and a legal notice would also be sent to their homes. You hope that you have made yourselves clear.

I am sure the doctors will never dare to repeat such a thing again and your problem will be siolved. All the best and Thanks
